Amma is an eager cook..as in,if someone asks her to try out a recipe and gives instructions, she'll make it immediately. When I saw the Beetroot Kesari on a TV show,I called her up and gave her the recipe and after 10 minutes, she called me to say that she made it and it was yummy..;-).Same with recipes on magazines and the likes. If a recipe appeals to her,she makes sure it is done quickly without any haste..;-).
Vanitha is a Malayalam magazine that we subscribe to and one of our favorites too.During the Deepavali edition, there was a special section on Gujarati food and sweets.Since most of the Gujarati recipes are without onion and garlic,it tempted her even more. One by one she tried out all the recipes and the favorite was this Dal.Everyone liked it at home and she asked me to check out the recipe and try it.Funny how I never made it and am posting the recipe from here, amma's kitchen..;-)
